When driving home last night, went to turn on the heater. After turning it on I noticed the temp gauge rising fast. Turned the heater off and temp returned to normal. Tuned it on again and the temp rose again.
Don't see any major leaks( it was 10 a night). Never saw anything like it.
Any ideas what could be causing this.
(heater core replaced late in oct last year, less them 10,00 on a new modine radiator.)
Thanks
Had the same problem on a 1984 F150 with a 351 H.O. engine. After changing the thermostat, the problem went away. Now the only thing I could figure was that since the A.C. compressor runs to dry the air in the defrost or mix mode, the added strain was just enough to heat up the motor since the thermostat ended up being stuck in a slightly open position.
It's a cheap and simple operation on any Ford V8, so you might try checking your thermostat out. Someone mentioned that it might also happen if the thermostat is in backwards. I don't know what your driving, but I hope that helps.
