Been looking to upgrade fuel system, looked at Beans, the CPR from diesel site, and Swamps also has one and is cheaper than the other 2. Has anyone used Swamps setup and do you like it? Which one would be the best to go with? Just been looking at these since I plan to run either a Stealth single pump or dual HPOP. and will have to relocate the stock fuel bowl anyway figured I'd just get rid of it and get better performance from my fuel system
Considering the three option I would choose Bean's. Swamp's give no idea what is in there kit, not even a description. Major stike in my book. I don't want to search around to find out about products.
Bob Riley's looks like a good kit but it has one serious flaw. There is not good filter post pump. It has a 2 micron pre-pump filter which is good but is should be post pump. It looks like there is two pumps and the reason is due to that filter. Pumps don't like to suck they like to push the fuel. So one pump is a lift pump to suck it threw the filter and then the pressure pump to deliver the fuel. Then while it doesn't happen often junk can come out of the pump and sent into the fuel rails. With only a 100 micron screen post pumps that is not enough filter after the pump. Bob probably has a great reason why he did it that way but I will never allow a pump to mess up my injectors just cause there isn't suffiecent filters to protect them.
That leaves Bean's system. It looks like a good system though I don't like the type of filter heads they use with the plastic threaded rings. I would rather see standard threaded filters on there.
As you can see I am kinda picky about my fuel. Thats why I will soon be building my own system. I can build it just to my needs.
As far as Swamp's system, IMHO, works good but you get zero customer service from him. That's what I used and had lots of problems with the pump not getting juice. One time it quit on me on a very busy freeway and I was in the center lane. A nice cop guarded me from behind while I hot wired the pump to get going. I called, emailed and left messages until I was blue in the face. I finally got ahold of him and after he told me how to rewire the pump, I told him where to go in no uncertain terms. I will never buy any thing again from that jerk. He told me that they were having problems with the way they first recommended to wire it up and they figured out a better way to do it. I asked him, what about your past customers, why couldn't you have let them know? I had cars going by on both sides at 70mph+ just because of his inability to communicate with his customers. Stay away from that guy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
does anyone have a list of Materials used to build your own. Would like to save a few dollars if I could help it. Oldbird- that is the first time I have heard anything bad about swamps, but thanks for the heads up. I have only dealt with Dale at Tymar and Beans where I have got all of stuff, and have nothing but good things to say about both of them
Were going to make some big bucks selling all your inventions.
=)
Thats just it. I don't have any inventions. I have copies that are better than the originals but not inventions. Every mod on my truck has been done by somebody else at some time or another, I just do it my way usually with less money leaving my pocket.
i would go with bob's system ive been runnin a dahl 150 2micron prepump for 9 years now with no problems but im also feedin the dahl and the pump with -10 hose and have the filter and pump mounted as low as possible so i have gravity on my side plus my tank is sumped which helps keep the least amount of air getting into the fuel. i still have thought about setting up an airdog type setup post pump but thats on the list of a million other things. i may have more of a commute to work so i may be gettin a us gear unit
