Rusting Hatch

Yes I had the same problem on my 2004 Navigator. I bought it used in 2005 from a Lincoln dealer. I saw the rust bubbles right away but the salesman told me that it was fiberglass or aluminum because it was non magnetic. I did not believe him so he brought out a magnet. He was correct about it being non magnetic. However he told me it was somebody doing a bad touch up paint job. So right before my 50,000 mile warranty was about to expire I noticed that the bubbles got bigger. I took it in and had it fixed for free by a different Lincoln dealer. The rust warranty may even go beyond the original warranty but if you are still within the 3 year 36000 mile take it back in. Hope that helped.

I had an issue too with my 2005 Expedition...it had peeled and started rusting on the service of the roof where the back of the roof meets the rear hatch...took it in the dealer and the fixed it no questions asked (well besides the usuall...year, mileage, registered owner...) at the time it only had 21,000 took it in a few months ago...

I too have the bubbles on the rear lift-gate, mine is a 2005 EB Expedition with 94,000 miles. Will the Corrosion Warranty cover this? Anybody have any success with this issue ? I also noticed same deal (paint bubbles) around drivers side front door. What has any one else gotten from Ford regarding this problem?
Thanks.
Thanks.

The liftgate is aluminum, and there is a long history of trouble with bubbled paint. From what you can read about it, it goes back to improper surface prep. Most people who have it repaired never have it come back, which is good news. Bad news for those who had to pay for it themselves. I had it done on my '04, but got it done for next to nothing because it was in the shop to repair damage to a rear quarter that happened in shipping.

i have the same problem with my 04 expedition. 83000 miles. two small bubbles on the hatch. and i have the same looking bubbles on the inside rear of the drivers rear door. is the door shell aluminium also? i bought it about a week ago from a carlot, not a ford dealer. i would assume that ford would not cover anything like this.
