I had the dealer swap out the battery because the original was leaking and was wandering will this new battery connected had reset the computer back to stock, I have a exhaust and aftermarket intake, what is needed to have computer recognize these things again? I diont have the truck yet it's at the dealer they have to get all the corrosion off from the leaking battery and repaint. The acid leaked on the top of strut cover plate and all the way down to the frame in 3 places where it dripped to the ground. Luckily I believe it wasn't leaking while driving it burst when I parked at home nice white puddle of acid on driveway is how I noticed it. Thanks for the help.
It depends on how quickly the battery is replaced. If it sits for a while without a battery, the residual power will drain and the computer will reset. Did you put a progammer on the truck to alter the stock computer settings? If you just added on the exhaust and intake you don't need to do anything to the stock computer. Did the bolt ons cause a "CEL" light after you added them? The computer will "relearn" your driving habits and adjust accordingly after it's been reset.
30 minutes with no battery and the PCM gets wiped back to factory settings. it'll take about 1 week for the truck to completely relearn how to run and shift transmission

What if you have an Edge, and the PCM was set at Levels 1, 2, or 3? Any idea? Mr. Power Hungry Performance, what about you? Any idea? I'm not planning on finding out, just wanting to know if it would screw things up.
Ford programmed the PCM to learn how to run the engine based on input from sensors and a baseline profile. it then has the capability to use these both to "fine tune" the engine/tranny operating characteristics
the edge replaces the baseline profile with a custom baseline with better tuning than OEM. a loss of power doesn't delete the profile. just any of the previously learned info.
that's why any programmer copies the stock profile first, then over-rites it. the only way to go back to stock is if Ford or the programmer puts it back there

That's what I thought, but wanted to make sure there wasn't a hidden program in there, and Ford wouldn't (dealership couldn't) answer that. You know, like a computer with a partition, with the mirror for the OS on it...
