I just got back from a 500 mile trip towing a 16' trailer and I got about 16mpg. It's ok but I think it can be better. So far the truck is stock just an intake and I'm looking at exhaust as the next mod. How well did it do for you?
It might help you a little bit....but if you are thinking of investing in it, and re-couping the costs in mpg.....that's not gonna happen. Your truck WILL perform much better, and I'm not sure what type of intake you put, but it will work muuuuuch better with free-flowing exhaust. Odds are....you will get very similar mpg's.....but will have slight increase in HP. EGT's are a factor also.......all in all....exhaust is a GREAT upgrade!
Cool, I guess I was expecting to hear a lot better fuel economy. If it keeps economy the same but gives a slight increase in power it'll be worth it. I did have a little trouble getting over the grapevine here on the 5fwy so if it makes that easier to deal with I'm happy. I've been thinking about an exhaust dump under the truck but I want to replace the downpipe as well. So that means I'll be looking at a complete system. Thanks guys.
