Hey guys! The lights in the instrument panel in my 66 F100 have grown pretty dim. The bulbs are 57's, but I wondered if anyone knows what I can replace them with to get a little more glow. That dim yellow lighting adds antique ura, but I'd rather see the speedometer! Thanks for your help! Brett
was there ever a gage light on the 63s??? cause i dont seem to have anything, other then high beam indicator, gen light. turn signals, and one other thing that lights up red, directly across from the gen light...
I think your dash is the same as my 66, and there are 3 lights on it. There is one on the bottom, between the oil and gen indicator lights, and one in each top corner-just outboard of the turn signal indicator lights. The sockets should pop out if you push to the side, and then pull.
there are lights for my dash... sort of in reverse ordere then what you posted though i think... one on top... right above the speedo... then 2 on the bottum...
i think i have a bad switch cause some times they all work... other times none of them work except the gen and oil light, and turn signals....
umm to answer your question... i guess... pull one or 2 of the bulbs and head off to the local parts store and find one that matches yours...
I think the headlight switch may be bad---the dashlight dimmer uses a coil with a little button to pick-up lower voltage along the coil (to dim/brighten the dash lights). It either gets full of crud-or fails to make contact along it's path. Does turning the headlight switch affect the dash lights?
Might be easier to just change headlight switches; they are a dime a dozen-I think everything up to 72 will fit, and you can change one in 15 minutes-just push the little button on the top of the switch body, and pull out the ****-unscrew the bezel screw, and the switch will fall out in your hand. Unplug the wires, and plug in the new one. Just my thought.
