I just use Lucus Oil Stabilizer and 5w 20 Castrol GTX in the Ford and it has 78k on it. Had it since new and no oil burning or leaks. To me it's just preference what oil we all use, a long time ago I used Penzoil when I had a different truck and the oil sludged up some so since then I switched to Castrol to all my vehicles.

well i just decided that the motorcaft 5w-20 is doing good for me, and i just changed my oil, it burned about a quart, is that pretty normal? I also was using Fram tough guard as a filter, but from what a lot of people have been saying i switched to motorcraft

The motorcraft oil and filters are all that you need....just pour in and drive!

A quart between oil changes is normal.....all engines burn a bit of oil.

Synthetic oils were developed to maintain viscosity through a wide range of temperatures. This is still the best, and maybe the only cost justifiable reason to use them. But you won't notice much difference unless it's below zero.

DO NOT USE FRAM!! they are JUNK!!! I will never use fram again since my airfilter top came off my fram airfilter!!!

i use either mobile 1 synthetic and change it at 5000mi or i use motorcraft oil and change it at 3000mi. i use motorcraft filters regardless.

Motorcraft oil filters are made by Purolator & are highly rated time after time. The Motorcraft item is a good value equal to Purolator's premium filter. Fram's standard oil filter gets relatively lower grades in various comparisons.

I recently was disappointed by Fram's premium $18 air filter. The sealed package described an expanded metal screen used to support the air filter element & showed a picture of just that. The cheaper standard Fram air filter's box wasn't sealed in plastic, looking inside there was no metal screen. Having once had mice chew up an air filter & nearly cause disaster I wanted the metal screen. When I went to install the air filter I found no metal screen!
