Cool FE highboy headers

Hi all,
Been a while since I posted but I have a problem that I know someone on here can solve?
I have a 67 250 4x4 with a 390, it also has a high pinion Dana 60 in front which is where the problem arose... I have headman elite series headers on it that are apparently made for the original low pinion axle because my front yoke ate the header this weekend when I had it twisted up in some trails.
I don,t want to go back to manifolds because that will pretty much render the money I spent on big stainless valves and port work useless
My question is... does anyone know if a set of fender well exit headers exist for a highboy with an FE or am I going to have to get a kit and make them??

any info is greatly appreciated

John

This is a good question.

Ive seen fender exit FE headers on 73-77 highboys but Im not sure what name brand they were. Another option could be some shorty or block hugger headers to keep the exhaust tight against the engine and out the way of the front axle.

My personal favorite solution is lift it 4-6" and forget about it.

good luck to you.

Hey 62uni4x4, it seems you live about 30 minutes from me. I'm in the Ann Arbor/Dexter area.

I know the "stans" headers for the fe are highly thought of. Especially in the tri-y configuration.

and youre still hitting the pinion on the headers?

my 79 250 has 4" of lift and 38s and the d60 is nowhere near the headers and highboys are obviously higher.

wierd. pics?

the reason you dont hit on the 79 is because it was designed for a high pinion axle the highboys had low pinion fronts so the header exits different' I have never seen headers for an fe engine in the 78/79 chassis or i would try that? I like fabbed headers are you interested in building a set?

The last year an FE engine was factory installed in a F100/350 was 1976.

FE engines: 1965/67: 352 / 1968/76: 360/390.
---------------------------------------------
As original.

4WD V8 engines: 1965/67: 352 / 1968/72: 360/390 / 1973/76: 360 / 1977/79: 351M/400.

4WD I-6 engines: 1965/74: 240 or 300 / 1975/79 300.

I know... thats what I was saying. my chassis is different than his 79 is why mine hits and his does not. mine is a 67
