4X2 badges?
4X2 badges?
Just curious my 86 F150 has these 4X2 badges on it, under the F150 badge on the fenders, do they mean anything special?
I've seen at least 30 two wheel drive 80-86 F150s around here and none of them have these badges.
As far as I know the truck came factory with a 3.50 limited slip out back, does that have anything to do with it?

I believe they are 1984-1986 or 85-86 etc... but my memory may be cheating. Numberdummy will know for sure.
They don't mean anything special at all really.
I believe they were only used on base models.
It's a common designation, at least over here - 4x4, 6x4, 6x6 etc.
As nflfreak43 says, it's the total no. of wheels (disregarding duals) x the no. of driving wheels

You won't see any 1980 or 1981's with these badges, I know this as fact. I believe they are 1984-1986 or 85-86 etc... but my memory may be cheating. Numberdummy will know for sure.

What does the 4x2 badge refer to?
It differentiates a 2WD from a 4WD.
I still don't get the whole thing.
If it's not a 4X4, then it has to be 2WD and therefore there is no need for a badge.
It's not just these trucks. I still see it advertised all the time and wish they would just stop already.
You either have 4WD (which we all know you really only have 2WD - one in front and one in back unless you have a LS or a Locker).
Mine is a 3WD. Two in back and one up front.
I wonder if they have a badge for that?
