Help Fixing my work Horse

well my 1995 ford f-250 4x4 351 **** the bed about a year ago

we swapped in a 351 from a junk yard truck but we used our 1995's harnes and wiring cause it was a hell of alot in better condition

now the engine stars but its running RICH the EGR needs to be replaced and i am doing that soon

but first things first , did ANYTHING change from 95 to 96 in the wiring that would make the 95's harness not work ? does any one have any HQ images of there stock engine bays by chance so i can compare whats ran were ?

Might be a lot of difference, both half ton? both 3/4 ton? One 1/2 one 3/4? if the 96 is a 3/4ton is it over 8500# GVWR?

Need the exact info for each truck.

nothing is different the motors are the same. the difference would be the efi system, the distributor and the emissions but if you borrowed parts from your 95 5.8 and placed them onto the 96 5.8 you should be in good shape.

if its running rich i wouldnt suspect the egr as the problem. should look at the basics like tune up, timing and fuel pressure. might need an o2 sensor replacement. Ford Fuel Injection has instructions for testing all this and pulling codes.

No the motors are the same, I was thinking more about any sensors used that may be different.

Speed density verses mass air flow or more to of a issue obd1 3/4 ton to 96 half ton with obd2 sensors mixed in perhaps.

do you know the location of the o2 sensor on this 96's engine i no longer have the 95 in my position so i cant get the parts unless i get em from the junk yard

and even then they might not part it out unless the engines blow junk yards around here are *** holes

Was this 96 engine out of a F150 or larger(F250/350)? F150 would be OBD2 using two O2 sensors. Not sure, but would think one would be in the y-pipe and other after cat. Or maybe both are in the y-pipe, one on either side.

The O2 sensor in the pipe senses the amount of spent or unspent oxygen in the exaust and reports it to the computer which then adjusts the mixture through pulses to the fuel injectors.
