OH NO, another ? about shocks

I am in the market for new shocks and I see that several folks really like the Bilsteins. Since I have been looking I have found so many choices that I thought I would ask you all, what is the best bang for the buck? My truck has the Monroe gas-magnum I think, large yellow Monroe shock anyway. The person I bought the truck from had recently had a shop install them. The shocks have about 30,000 miles on them now. When I stand on the steps or the front tow hooks and then step off, the front bounces like crazy. I can easily get 2 good bounces from doing this. I am about 220lbs, so this seems like a little bit to much give. I can't really get the rear of the truck to bounce, kinda guess a little more suspension back there though huh? Anyway, any advice would be greatly appreciated! Sorry for rambling.

Bilsteins are talked about on here quite a bit because they are by FAR superior to any other shock out there for our trucks. They are valved perfectly for the Diesels. Ya can't go wrong, and you will notice a huge difference in ride quality!

I prefer only one bounce. I push down and it springs back without another rebound. Go with the Bilsteins and forget about it.

More than one bounce is bad. Any leakage showing cause 30K usually isn't that much on a shock unless it's been abused?

The shocks that are on now look almost like new still. Very little dirt, the label is peeling a little. I thought about trying to contact the shop that installed them about a warranty, but I really think from what everyone on here says I should upgrade to the Bilsteins. I just needed that little confirmation from the great people on here!!

The Monroe's should have a lifetime warranty on them. The last time I swapped mine under warranty I got a bad shock and it cost me 1 front tire. My experience is the last 40 - 50k before it's time for replacement. I ordered some Bilstiens a couple of days ago. Still waiting on delivery, so no comment on them yet.

I recently replaced my shocks with the Bilsteins, and could not be happier with them. Mine were in a bad way (the pic is of my old rear shocks), so I can really feel the difference. Well worth the money to get the Bilsteins.

Monroe Gas-matic (their HD light truck shock) from VIP are good budget shocks if you dont drive the truck! I have an early 99 CC SB SRW 4x4. The fronts lasted me a year. I do have an 8' plow....but only do 3 driveways....(local family). Yes....VIP happily exchanged them for free......but only once. So If anyone needs some budget shocks $36 ea in NH they are a good option...but next time it will be Bilsteins for me as well.
