I finally finished and started my freshly rebuilt 408 with all kinds of parts from Tim Meyer. It sounds rediculously loud and wonderful right now with just the headers but it is just too loud to run around here w/o gettin pulled over. I think glasspacks are gunna be too loud, so what flowmasters do you guys think? I love the deep rumble tone, and I don't want it too loud. I still wana be able to hear my girlfriend complain when she is riding with me. so do you guys think the "super 44", "50 series Big Block ( I or II)", "50 series HD", or what? I'm gunna run straigh off the headers and cut them out at a 40 or 45 degree angle in front of each rear wheel
I'm also not normally a flowmaster fan but my exhuast system guy talked me into these and I love the. I got tired of glass packs rattling the screws out of the interior trim pieces.
id probably go with 44's. my dads 428 has super 40's and althought they drone at 1500 and 2500 rpms they still sound nice and are quite loud when you are on the throttle hard. the 44's i think would suit a pick up truck more.
Remember that muffler selection is a VERY subjective issue. YOU are looking for the sound YOU want. I went with a Series 70 on my truck because I didn't want a lot of interior or exterior noise during regular driving but I did want growl when I stepped down on the pedal. If I was to do it again I would probably go with a Series 50 Delta flow. Still quiet in the cab but a little louder to the bystander.

Thanks. I want an aggresive deep rumble outside but I kinda would like the interior noise on the quieter side. I will check out the Series 50 Delta flow.
I have a friend with Flowmasters on his 93 Bronco. They resonate bad at highway speeds, not trying to knock the Flowmasters but it is really annoying. I have 16inch glasspacks on my 79 Truck and Bronco. Sounds great, great tone at idle and highway speed.
I like the new Moustang take off mufflers (OEM). Ebay good place for them. Nice n throaty an you still hear the Misses,,, er hmmm oh well turn up the radio
hey guys,
my internet sucks and I haven't been able to log on in the last week. I actually ended up ordering a whole different internet service and got rid of this dang dial up.
Anyway, I bought two "super 44" flowmasters and they are on it. It sounds great at idle but I haven't driven it yet and I haven't realy even reved it because I am going to break in the cam tomorrow. I love them so far though. I will give you an update later this weekend after I finally drive the beast!!
