is the clutch bushing that causes the clutch disengagement problems on the MC side or the SC side? ever sense iv gotten the truck theres been a little to much free play, and its been getting slowly worse to where now i have to turn the key to the start position and slam on the clutch pedal till it starts, getting it in gear from a stop is difficult and its a pain to shift. so its time to fix the problem. iv serched threw the fourm and it seems every one knows this bushing and where its located but me cause its never described in any of the threads that iv found.
MC side of the pedal box. There is a shaft that goes from the clutch pedal through the brake pedal to the right side of the pedal box. Thats where the bushing is on the right side of the pedal box. There are also bushings for the clutch pedal shaft that may need to be replaced. Mine were wore through and caused massive amount of play. There is also a neutral safety switch on the MC shaft that may be a part of your problem. There is a mod for the MC bushing because they where fast. Ill see if I can get more info on that.eBay Motors: FORD Clutch Rod End PERMANENT Repair powerstroke too. (item 260259454785 end time Jul-13-08 10:35:02 PDT)
PS I got the clutch shaft bushings at ford for about half the price that LMC trucks sells them for.
Go for the Ebay mod. It's pricey, but so is the Ford plastic bushing...and if the post on the clutch lever is worn, the new plastic bushing won't last 5 minutes of driving and shifting. Master cylinder doesn't need to be removed. I am 280 lbs, 6' and I shimmied under the column and took a 3" air grinder to it.
LMC has good stuff.. but this EBAY find is better. Many folks on here have nothing but good reactions from the EBAY bushings.
If you are having clutch, shifting problems, I believe this is the first step to fixing this. Remember most of our trucks have a lot miles on them. Clutch components are supposed to go out.. Thats what they are designed for, but that shaft we are talking about is supposed to be good.
As far as the LMC link that was to show you the other bushings on the shaft that goes from the clutch to the right side of the pedal box. I got those from ford for less than LMC. IMO these bushings will give you more play when worn that just the one bushing that goes to the MC. I think the bushings on the MC on your truck were more of a problem than on mine but I would recommend you replace everything and be done with it. Obviously you might want to take a look at the pedal box bushings and make sure they need to be replaced because it is a bit of a project to remove the pedal box to replace the bushings. If you do decide to replace all the bushings Let me know and I will do a writeup on how to do it.
well today i pulled the old bushing out and well basically it fell out in little pieces, i wraped the shaft with some electrical tape for a temp fix, and its already much better, ill be ordering the e-bay fix in the next couple days
