It's a 91. So I just need to run a wire from the purple to the switch and back to the relay where the purple connects?

There is no purple wire on a 91.
That was on the old style system 86 and older.

You need a relay, the glow plug system draws about 200 amps while heating.

The 87 and newer system uses resistance feedback from the glow plugs to time the heat cycle.

How long are yours staying on?
