Gotta 94' Explorer that has A/C that will not shut off no matter what position the HVAC controls are in, on or off. I have to remove the Compressor Clutch wire clip in order to disengage the A/C. Does anybody have any idea as to what can cause this?
I may be way off here but have you ever put in any oil in the compressor? The bearings may have froze together, like I said I may be way off but it would be a cheap, easy starting point to see if it was indeed an electrical problem. Had one do that myself awhile back, takes awhile for the oil to circulate but its worth a try. Good luck.
I would think that the low pressure switch is bad causing the clutch to stay engaged all the time. Also, overfilling the system will cause this also, as the pressure in the system will never get low enough to activate the low pressure switch! The pressure in the system comes down when adequate cooling has been achieved and the low pressure switch cuts the compressor off until the pressure in the system rises enough to kick it back on. Just a thought!
