Well doesn't really increase the towing capacity since that is more limited by the vehicles size and weight and suspension setup, but it does make towing heavy items easier on the engine and trans. Personally, I would be more concerned with the tranny and making sure it stays cool when hauling heavy stuff. You probably would need to get the speedometer recalibrated.
