Reason: wrong number
That isn't the offset, the offset is how far the wheel center is from the inside rim edge. if it's for your '75, my 78 has 16.5"X9.75" wheels, with an offset of 4.75", I think that is the standard. I've heard of 15degree wheels, or something with 15 degrees before, but I can't remember what, but again I think that is the standard. I'm pretty sure someone will happen by and be able to properly answer your question.
Custom wheels, the degree thing doesn't add up. My guess: 16.5, and even 16 to some extent tend to peel the beads off in heavy use-sharp turns in sand or loose stuff due to a lesser inner "bead". Where as the good ol 15" wheels have a heavy inner "bead" which really helps keep the bead intact-on the wheel itself-not to be confused as bead locks.
And! For us older folks, split rim wheels will have nothing to do with this!
That is why 15" wheels were so popular-the many questions about 15" rims on 8 lug Ford 4x4's. Not to mention the lesser cost of 15" rubber-or that it used to be.
I admit- I have to be out of date on the 95 and newer stuff for wheels.
So, my guess is that these custom wheels may have the bigger inner bead which holds the tire bead onto the rim with better control, vrs. the factory 16" and 16.5" stock inner bead of the rim.
That said-mebbe its the rim manufacturer's code, for that, or whatever else it could be.
There has to be some info out there on them wheels.
Good luck!
If bad memory serves me right, I think that is what the 15 degree refers to. I've run 16.5" swampers for a while on the Crew Cab, and had no bead issues. The Goodyears going on there are 16.5s as well.
It seems that most people that run into the "tire un-seating itself from the wheel" issue with the 16.5's are running the tires way down in pressure to widen the footprint for rock crawling, maybe sand and wet snow running, etc. At normal operating pressures, I've never really experienced any trouble with 16.5's
Unless you try to get them on 16 inch rims. You think anyone has tried?
Very Dangerous! Please don't bother trying to attempt or use mix match wheels and tires. It would either be too loose to hold air, or safely stay on the wheel. Or the tire would be soo tight on the rim the bead cable would break and would be a major blow-out.
maybe the 15 dc, has something to do with the way the rim was balanced from the factory or something??????????? Maybe 15 degrees from some point on the rim is the high imbalance place. or then again i could be totally retarded and just spewing crap, but i did used to balance drive shafts for a living
