My average over the last ten fill ups is 18.2 mpg (calculated the old fashion way). My daily 45 mile commute is 55 mph rural two lane roads with lots of curves, up and down hills, and slowing down through two small towns. I've made an effort to get my foot off the gas when I can (this truck can coast a long way) and not accelerate too hard. It's a completely stock '07 FX4 running 87 octane fuel. I'm fairly happy considering the size and weight of this truck. Our Jeep Liberty does worse under the same conditions and our '08 Mustang V6 only does slightly better.
i just got my 06 f-150 gotts the 5.4 in her love the truck fule milage seems slightly better then my 02 with the 4.6L i can get with my 06 about 17L per 100 k thats takin it easy then hammerin on the gass when i feel like it, so whats that work out to MPG ??? ill have to see if i can get better im levin back for work tomorrow and should be able to see what kinda milage i can get out of it,
I just got 15.1 mpg on a 1500 mile trip, most of it at 70-80 mph and about half of it towing a 17 ft boat...I did notice the mileage went down after i switched to champion 1 piece plugs....i think.....i need more time to figure out if it really did or not
i average about 14.5 to 15. thats city and highway. kinda half of both. i wish it was better but what can we expect from these heavy 4x4's. im pretty happy considering what im driving
I just filled up today and I use the same pump at the same station every time and the last 4 or 5 tanks I have averaged around 17-18. I fill up today and I knew it was goiing to be a little better and I ended up averaging 21.8 mpg no lies and no I am not on crack. I went on a 200 mile trip going all 55 with about 30 miles in town. It takes me way longer to make the trip but at over 21mpg I will not compain. Im sure the people that were stuck behind me hated it, though.
finally some numbers that aren't a pile of guys whining about poor mileage. if you drive conservatively you will get better mileage. i've proved it before, and you guys are proving it as well... good work!

how does THAT happen? that thing should do quite a bit better...

Don't know. The Mustang only has about 1K miles on it so far, is mostly driven short distances, and it's way too fun to put the hammer down. I'm sure it would do better than the 20.5 mpg we've seen so far if it were driven differently. Another interesting vehicle is my Honda 919 motorcycle. I've seen 50 mpg on a trip and 35 mpg when out having fun. It all depends on how I use the throttle.
if you guys are getting 20mpg with the 5.4, 75mph...i'm laughing... convert all that to canadian figures and i'll be getting 24 easy seeing i usually drive 105km/h, =65mph, and we have a bigger gallon...

no joking. I've gotten 20-21 mpg consistently several times on long road trips. Kansas/Oklahoma/Texas are great for it. Wyoming/Montana/Western Colorado...not so much. Those tanks were 15-17 mpg. With myself, wife, kid and probably 500 lbs of crap in the bed, we drove from Seattle to Texas (2,500 miles one way)(and back) x2 times. That's also why my truck has 22,000 miles right now. It would have 10-12k miles if I hadn't of done those 2 trips.
once you get up in the 70-75 mph range, just hit CC...keep it there for 2-3 hours and just enjoy a pleasant drive in the slow lane. Let all the other racecar drivers zoom by. I would drive about 500 miles between fillups with my 30 gallon tank and make 2 scheduled bathroom stops. If I drove it to empty, the tank would have easily gotten me 600+ miles.
MPG in these trucks is more Driver oriented than anything else. although the MPG seems to go down once you go over 65 mph. But you'll get your butt run over going 65 mph on any major Interstate road.
here most people run between 100-110km/h which is approx 60-70mph... i like the happy medium of 105 very true what you say about mileage being driver oriented... my mother got 26mpg in a '00 chebby 4.8L while her dad took it for a weekend and got 17-18mpg... his driving is very erratic and unsmooth!!
just got to camp last night long road trip with my 06 with 06 f-150 5.4 l i got 15.5l per 100 k at an avrage speed of 115km was pretty happey i thought she would have gottin way worse.
