you guys both missed my point. I drag my "piggy bank" usually a bucket full of change, to my bank (53) they dump it into thier sorter, Then either give me the cash, or put it in my account.

That do make a difference. I pick up any coins I see laying in the parking lot street, etc. I save them for my granddaughter. I have a savings account for her, and all my extras go in there. I was at a convience store not long ago, and saw a quarter laying in the driveway. I reached down to pick it up. Guess what? The damn thing was glued to the concrete. Someone did it as a practical joke. After I couldn't pick it up, I did look around in embarrassment to see if anyone was watching.jd

As far as I know, my bank wants me to bring in my coins, rolled, and with my account number on them.
I'll have to check to see if they have that service, for free.

I worked at a bar in Germany, and at the end of the night our manager would go around and pick up all the loose change. One night we super glued about 10 1 euro peices all over the place. It only costs each of a a euro, for entertainment for a good half hour.
Most of the banks around here don't want you to roll your own coins. They have to go through and tear them open to count them again anyway.
I just carry my change in, fill out a deposit slip and hand it to them. They pour it in their counter/sorter and a couple minutes later bring back the deposit slip with the amount of change added to whatever account I asked them to add it to.

I know a guy who used to play "poo dollar". Canada has Loonies, worth a buck, and the guy would sit around with his friends watching people pick up change. They'd call them "Penny Pickers" for picking up the pennies. So one day, one of them got the smart idea to take a loonie, smush one side in a pile of dog poo, and place it poo side down on the sidewalk. Then they'd wait till someone would pick it up.
I'm with jake00 on this one, I walk into my credit union with my piggy bank, they dump it in their machine and give me a print out a ticket of how much it was. I normally get a laugh out of the girls working there, I actually bring my change into the credit union in a piggy bank. Its a good size piggy bank, normally cashes out to 60-70 bucks when completely full. Out of all the times I've cashed in change there they've never mentioned anything about wanted my change sorted and rolled.
I have a separate account that my "change" goes into. All those pennies add up, last time I checked there was 580 bucks in there. All from 2.5 years worth of change I had laying around.
