Ok so it finally happened, 172000 miles and i got a manifold starting to leak on my 96 f-250 with a 460, time for headers lol.... Mostly i want them for sound and looks when you look under my fender well since my truck is lifted, i like the banks headers but there way to proud of them.... So my question is for those of yall with expierience with them on this engine who offers the most bang for the buck?
i ran into the same issue with my truck having a 5sp, only headers i found were banks and l&l. banks wanted 1300+ for the ceramic coated headers and ypipe and l&l wanted bout 580 for the nickel coated headers. i havent bought them yet, but a tech from l&l told me they did a test with a bone stock 96 4wd 5spd truck and picked up 43 horse to the tires and 2.7 mpg improvement.
Yeah i called banks today, wat a rip off 9hp for 1100 they told me, i almost started laughing. Theres another company called headman that looks like they make some nice ones for about 600.... Called them today and they were real friendly and offer a lifetime warranty and say around 25-35 hp on my engine but its not stock. I was hopin to hear someone say they were runin some on here though. And i looked at landl today, if they say 43hp and mean it im gona go with those probaly.... But ive never heard of land l till today.
Look in the classifieds. Banks headers, muffler and tailpipe for $400 + shipping. New. I was going to buy them but he doesnt have the EO#s (californistan smog thing...) so I cant use them.
Try broncograveyard.com They sell mad dog fenderwell headers for the 70's conversions to 460 power. Thats what im gonna run, $380 a set. 1 3/4 inch primaries, or two inch primaries same price, both with a 3 1/2 inch collector

Them being fenderwells, I would think so, you'd just have to eamil them and ask. They sell the headers there too. It'd be worth looking into, there big tubes and look durable, and a lot cheaper than l&l's
These are the exact headers the OP is looking for. New, not $1100, but $400+ shipping. Best deal I've seen in a long time. Throw the tailpipe and muffler in the trash and you still got a great deal, or sell the back half of the system and have headers for nearly free.
L&L's are ok but very heavy. The the mounting flange is 1/2" thick. I wasn't happy with the right side header, should have sent it back. The welds left a lot to be desired & it pointed down somewhat. The left one was perfect & nice welds though. I don't know if they would fit a later model or not. They aren't listed to fit them though.
The exhaust port openings changed on the 460 engine when they went to the EFI heads in late 1987, so the older headers will not work on the EFI heads--ports won't line up properly with the flanges on the headers.
Anyone know why the headman EFI headers won't work on a 5-speed 460 truck? I have looked at the headers and my truck very closely and can't see any reason they won't work with the 5-speed.

I agree! I have a 92 4x4 460 5spd Crew and I dont see why they wouldnt fit. Starter placement perhaps? I would love to try it out!!!!!
