Ok, this may be an easy question, but I can't figure it out. When you removethe air filter, there is another filter on the side of the housing that connects directly to the oil housing (crankshaft). Is there a way to change this filter? It is so clogged up I don't know how any air gets through there. It has the consistency of a stick of paste and is so dirty it is almost black. Have any of you changed this? I can't find any information of this filter or replacements for it. Thanks for the help.
Is it stapled into a black plastic piece?
If so,you should be able to remove the horseshoe shaped clip and remove it.
They make a replacement fliter for this.
Sorry I took so long to reply. My truck is a 1994 F-350 with the 460 (gas) engine in it. The item in question is a filter about 4-5 inches long by 1 inch high on the back side of the air filter housing. If you are standing on the drivers side of the truck, this filter would be on your right. Like I said before, it is connected to a line that connects directly to the oil reserve (crankshaft.) Thanks for the help.
