Im working on a 2001 f350 4x4 drw.
front drivers side wheel bearing when out. can they be replaced or just a complete hub? If only avalible in complete hub where is best and cheapest place to get one?
Ford will tell you that the entire hub MUST be replaced but you can replace only the bearings. In fact, I just gave a set of the bearings away as I went ahead and replaced both hubs entirely. I paid $341 per side for the hubs. I also bought all of the o-rings. I think those ran 15 bucks or so. The hubs were listed at $425. The parts guy said he could "fleet" price them and that brought them down to $341. It probably helped that the parts guy is the brother-in-law of a coworker of mine. I would still ask for fleet pricing though and see what happens. Ford is hurting for cash according to NBC News tonight so who knows, they might cut you some slack.
