Thats kinda what Im thinking.Im looking at buying a truck and its got explorer on the box and F-100 on the front fenders.
So how can I figure out if its a explorer F-150 or if its a F-100 that someones added explorer badges to the box?
Ah, I see what you are asking now. The answer is yes they did.
The Explorer Special Package was avaliable in F-100 through F-350, Two and Four wheel drive, regular and super cab. It was only avaliable a few months out of the year, and wasn't featured in the F-series sales brochure, it had it's own.
As For Trim Lines, you can have a F-100 Custom, Ranger, Ranger XLT or Ranger Lariat.
Trim Designation had nothing to do with the F-100 model.
Never seen an F-250 or F-350 Explorer. Most of 'em were 4x4s I think.
There's a 1977 F-250 Explorer in my Explorer gallery. I also owned a 1972 F-250 Explorer Camper Special. The Explorer Special was the Rarest Trim and option Package. And the F-250, F-350, 4x4 and supercab Explorer's seem to be rarest.
The most comon Explorers (still rare in their own right) seem to be F-100 or F-150 two wheel drive models.
