How bad are your roads? I find that my wifes stock 91 Ranger ex cab STX with 235-75-15 LT all terrains 35 lbs air in the tires factory fr and rear sway bars handles very well and drifts round corners real good too ( DO NOT tell the wife ) my 91 with 4" lift 31 10.50 15 M/T's and no rear sway bar ( 15, km on new rear springs with a add a leaf ) is a little choppy with the same air pressure , isnt to bad at 25 psi though but will not drift for love or money handles ok but different wifes handles well.

So what is your real issue then? You want it to ride softer on highway? Or the tires just spin in the rain? What kind of tires are you running?
I had a 77 F-100 with bald tires and old springs and shocks, and I tell ya, the axle would wrap like no tomorrow. Drifting around corners because of the tires.
Might be time for shocks and tires in your case.
