I'm at base mine, working for Aecon. They are well known for their expertise in infastructures, but they bought out a company called Cow Harbour, and this is their first attempt at mining, so far so good. they are spending millions on equipment repair, and setting up our own offices on site. As of today, we are now on a 10 and 5 shift, I start 5 nights starting Tues, and then have 5 days off. It will be nice to finally have a schedule so I can plan ahead.
Regarding the weather, I waited outside this morning (5:50am) for the bus going to the mine, it was 20 minutes late, and it was -37 without the windchill!!!! I was almost in tears from the pain in my fngers and toes. I didn't warm up till around 10.
I am counting the days till spring!!!
I worked for Finning when Cow Harbour went into bankruptcy protection. Finning cut there credit off at 14Million owing in parts and labor.
I sure do not miss the waiting for the bus!!
It is a good morning here Steve, we`re still basking in the warmth 12°F and day time high`s near or above freezing. Too bad that`s going to end by this Sunday when the cold returns.
