I do almost the same thing bigdaddy mentioned. I take a pinch hold it on one side of my mouth and chew em open with the other side. I spit the hulls and chew the seeds. I use to chew tobacco years and years ago I think that's where the habit came from. At work I even find myself spitting the hulls into my empty soda can.

If you're talking about sunflower seeds, I soak a handful for a while in my cheek, and then split and spit!!! I eat several bags a day, but not Davids!! They are way too salty!! I like Frito Lay brand, the nut tastes better and they are not near as salty!!!
I have to eat them,,, It gives my mouth something to do all day!!!
And, they help me retain water for my climbs in the heat!!! It's amazing how much you can sweat when you climb one of those silly spinny thingies when it's 103 degrees outside!!!

Same for me, the BBQ flavered ones is my flaver...got to find those dill flavored ones and test my tolarence on those.

Sometimes I eat the whole thing, but usually the hull feels like it is cutting my throat up so I usually just spit them out.

But those stupid seeds are for the BIRDS

What I hate is to step into my work area after someone else, a splitter/non-hull eater has littered the floor with his bird debris. This ain't no barroom here. Throw the trash out...who's cleans up after you at home, your Mommy?

I work outside so, this is not an issue for me!! And when I am at my desk, I use an empty Gatorade bottle,,, Geez, who spits them on the floor??

I had a co worker who used to spit his Skoal "gravy" everywhere. Mind that, we have to kneel and put our hands on the ground/floor too.
Seeing sunflower Shells all over the place bugs me too, that's why I eat um!
Then again, I'd rather eat pumpkin seeds. (for the salt).
Cigarette butts on the jobsite bugs me too, but that's a different rant!
