Well, here it is. I started to get excessive white smoke out of the exhaust. No coolant loss, no loss of power, just white smoke at idle, rather it's at startup or at a light or in park. I'm hoping it's just something like the glow plugs, what do all y'all think? Oh course white smoke out the exhaust is like colic in horses, it could mean so many things until you get someone to look at it.
well that doesnt sound good... and you have all the mods i wanted to get, damn..
I'm pretty sure it would have something to do with the glow plug relay and that is something that would go out rather you had mods or not if I'm right, which I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
do you still have your EGR system stock?
kinda sounds like when my EGR cooler went out. my truck would smoke white at start up for around 30 seconds, smoke a little white at idle, and then would really smoke in first gear but then once it shifted it would clear up.

I have my egr bypassed. I haven't had any loss of power at all since it started.

I'm trying to think if it smokes more in gear or not. I'm wanting to say it does, but I can't for sure. I do know that when I'm actually driving it seems to be fine going down the road.
Just had my egr cooler replaced (51,000 miles). My symptoms were extreme black smoke on throttle. Quite a bit on start up, and my tailpipe really started to "soot" up. Watch your tailpipe for smoke out of you rearview mirror the next time you jump on it. Also no smoke while running down the highway, only under hard throttle.
It's not black smoke, it's extreme white smoke in first gear, seems to clear up when in 2nd or higher, either that or the wind is just dissipating it faster then I can see it going that fast. Black smoke that I have is due to overfueling that much I'm sure. I just don't know. Mechanic has it up in the air as we speak looking at it, so hopefully I'll know something after lunch.
The truck does this at idle all the time; is this correct?
If so, I'm going to suggest something simple to put you on the right track.
Smell the smoke; if it smells like raw fuel you've likely got an injector problem or a compression problem; if it smells like antifreeze you've got a coolant issue. As your EGR cooler is bypassed I doubt that is the problem.
