The auto store wants $70.00 to replace the fuel filter, I did one years back on a Ford product. Any help on locating which side of the chasis the filter is located. I picked up a new one for $12.00. Hoping to replace this wekend.

For my Lightning, I locate the fuel pump fuse, pull it, then crank the engine over a few times. Sometimes it will start for a second before it sputters and dies.
You have now relieved the pressure in the lines and can remove the filter.
Just remember, there is no pressure, but the lines will still have fuel in them, so have a couple rags handy.
On my 04, same as your 02, on the passenger side exterior wall under the dash is the inertia cutoff switch. Pull the plastic trim piece off and use a small screwdriver to pop the red button up. I did when it was running... ran for about a minute. Do not attempt to change it with it pressurized. Tried that the first time and it wasn't pretty.
