I was going to replace the fuel filter before the summer vacation but I did not see it while I was changing the engine oil and filter. I bought a new filter from the local Ford parts dept.( over $30.00 ) and it is not like the fuel filter on our 98 Expedition, nor is it in the same location. Can someone help me with the location of the fuel filter?
I know this topic is old, but I went searching for this answer and this is all I found. So, for those who search this in the future, here is the answer.
After about an hour of following the fuel lines around, and they go from rear bumper to the top of the engine, I found it. Look for a piece of plastic next to the gas tank about 2/3 of the way towards the rear up against the driver's side frame and the side of the gas tank. At a casual glance it looks like part of the gas tank. There should be two white clips visible underneath. Push those up and this piece of plastic pops right off and the filter falls out in your hand.
