It has been 1 1/2 weeks since my door crack repair kit has been ordered. Service said they are still waiting on a kit ordered 2 weeks before mine. As far as installing the No Crack Kit on the door that isn't cracked I am getting the impression that they are just saying that they are doing the research to find out and hope I will let it blow by. Well My warrenty is a 7 yr / 70,000. I can out wait them.
I called last week to order the parts for the not yet cracked fix. My pickup goes in tomorrow for instalation. Get back with your dealer and find out what's up.
Both kits came in friday and the truck went to the shop Monday. I saw it at the body shop as I came to work today but couldn't see if anything had been done yet. I was told I would get it back Wed. at 5:00.
I need a new dealer. Mine didn't know a thing about the repair kit. Sounds like they have to weld it in. Wish I could install it myself since mine is out of warrenty.
We bought a 1998 F150 a few months ago thru an auction and are just starting to see a crack. We have no warranty. We plan to contact a dealer soon. Any advice?

Ideas?? Of course. Take cold hard cash to your dealer. Unless you can find one that will fix it out of warrenty. And if you do .........would you let the rest of us know where that dealership is???
Well, we have decided to not go to a dealer. My husband has noticed that putting the window up and down puts extra stress on the cracked area - the cracked area actually moves when the window is going up and down - and that it's worse when the window is all the way up. So we bought some "window guards" (little awning things to keep rain out - now that sounds like a description a woman would use, doesn't it?)so that we don't have to put the window all the way up when it might rain. We're hoping this will keep the crack from growing too rapidly.
Finally got the truck out of the shop. They kept it two days longer but the body work was beautiful. The no crack kit was installed on the passenger door and did not require any painting so it didn't need any welding. I think it is just a real tough adhesive of some kind. The driver door needed about a 12 inch long swath of paint. The body guy blended the paint beautifully and fixed the crack so I can't even tell I had one. total cost to me $0.00
Joeykaypreston: I wouldnt let the crack just hang around. Putting the vent covers thingys on may allow you to keep the windows down some and keep the crack from getting worse, but rain and washing will let water seep into the door and start to rust. so you need to protect the crack in some way before it turns into a hole.
