Hey, man, that's a pretty good method, but you do have to be careful spraying combustible gas around a running engine...still, a lot cleaner than the WD-40 method.

Late update:

I wish to say Thank You to Smokey Bear 31 for his advice on how to install the locked gas cap. I knew i could probally have cut the tether but did not wish to do so if there was a better way. I finially attached it Friday and have not had a "code" pop up. Of course, I did purchase a motorcraft one from the Ford dealer,all they had to know was if it was a 5.4L or 4.6L engine. Yes, I also paid out the $35.00 so I would not have any problems.

unfortunately, the thieves are just cutting a hole in the tank and draining the fuel into a bucket!

Exactly. It's next to impossible to siphon fuel out of these trucks. They will punch the tank.
