OBD II code

hey guy i have been just drivin my truck like normal and today it CEL pop up so i looked it up and the code that it gave is P2285 low press. inject what does it mean and what kinda thing will it do to my truck use can i still put it to work ?? well any help would be great .

I see your truck is a 2006. Give us some more information like how many miles on the truck and what kind of maintenace have you done with the truck and any modifications. A P2285 means the ICP injector control pressure sensor is reading low and this is the oil pressure that is used for the injectors. This has nothing to do with engine oil pressure it is a separate system. There is also an IPR valve that is the actual regulator for the injector oil pressure. The ICP sensor sends information back to the PCM and then uses this information to send a signal to the IPR to regulate the oil pressure. The Injectors need a certain amount of oil pressure to make them operate correctly. I believe the ICP needs to see at least 600 PSI before the truck will even start. Now is the truck running ok? Does start right away or does it take a long time to crank? Does it not start sometimes when it is hot and then is ok after it cools down? The answer to questions will help and there are alot people on here smarter then me that might have an answer to your problem.

well that the odd thing is the truck runs good it all stock i have just remove the cat and thats it so its around the time for an oil change again i use mobil 1 as far as it starting its crank over in 2 or 3 full crank so like normal and i take care of the truck its half of my life line. it has been like jumpin forward at a stop light but it only once in a while when it does it kinda feels like some one hit me so maybe thats part of it or a new bug to kill thanks man for the help i need it lol . one last thing ipr icp have its own oil pump right?? but uses the motor oil for the engine and the inj. right

Yes the IPR and the ICP uses the engine motor oil for the hydraulic action in the injectors. That is one reason why changing the oil and filters on a regular basis is so important. If I had to take a guess as to what is causing the problem your having I would say maybe chaffed wire in the ICP circuit or the ICP itself could be causing the CEL light to come on. Because the truck runs good and it always starts right up no matter what the conditions then it sounds like the High pressure oil pump for the injectors is ok along with the associated lines coming from the pump to the injectors. In 2006 the ICP sensor is located in the passenger valve cover.

sweet guys thanks for the help its great so its most likely just a bad sending unit or a wire im in the wood now so what will it hurt if i keep drive and using it??
