rear hatch latch
I purchased 97 aerostar last Friday. Every thing seemed to be working (a/a/c radio, elect, windows and door locks. Then on Sunday my "door ajar" light came on. I found the rear door unlatched and it still is I removed the inside panel covering the latch mechanism but looks like everything is OK? The things I tried with no luck include:
manually tripped and reset latch
switched the elect door locks on and off several times
tried to open and close the lock with a key
loosing my temper
has any one else had this problem? advice appreciated

The sensor is inside of the latching assembly-and is it retracted, or extended. My 93
did this..rust was the cause...get paper towels ready, and spray all over with your fav. wd40 clone. actuate with handle. It will go away, I bet. (Ranger door handles are notorious for this. Use the red tube, make a mess, won't hurt wiring.
