Hello,
I have new 2008 F450, 6.4 Powerstroke and it has a towing button on the shift handle...what are the details on this feature (can not find them in the owners guide and I forgot what the dealer said)
Tow/Haul delays upshifts to reduce frequency of transmission shifting.
Tow/Haul also provides engine braking in all forward gears when the
transmission is in the D (Overdrive) position; this engine braking will
slow the vehicle and assist the driver in controlling the vehicle when
descending a grade. Depending on driving conditions and load
conditions, the transmission may downshift, slow the vehicle and control
the vehicle speed when descending a hill, without the accelerator pedal
being pressed. The amount of downshift braking provided will vary based
upon the amount the brake pedal is depressed.
To find it yourself look in the table of contents for the driving section. Under driving look for the Transmission Operation section. Go to that section and read through the automatic transmission information.
The first time I was towing in T/H mode and I took my foot off of the throttle to descend a hill, the transmission downshifted on it's own to hold the speed and scared the crap out of me! I thought for sure the trans was about to depart the truck.
