door alignment

just installed new rubber moulding around my doors. now my doors dont fit flush.ive moved the striker bolt as far as it will go,still a quarter inch off.they fit so nice before, but the moulding was worn out.is there a trick to adjusting these doors or do i just let time do its work?the moulding came from BOTP.

Are the bushings in your hinge Worn out?
have you tried loosening the hinge and moving the door out slightly? six bolts per door three per hinge

The new mouldings will compress a bit with time then you can readjust the doors to fit correctly. Mine did the same thing.

Dave's right, give it a month or two before you start moving doors around

Yup, I did that with mine, I thought my door was seriously misaligned because it was really hard to shut the door, after several weeks though it closes pretty east and seals tight.

Grant Peterson has a really good article on door adjustment in Bumpside Build off in the new issue of Classic Trucks
