I drive an 03 5.4L 6spd and get 14.5 - 15.5 on the highway. Obviously, city is less. I have no way to compare this with anything because I can't afford another truck. But, modern automatics are so advanced that I know you can get mileage comparable to, or better than, a manual. It all depends on how you drive.
Like others have said, I have seen some of the window stickers that showed better MPG for autos. I am not surprised.
Is that city or highway? I get 19 mpg with my stock 2WD 7.3L. City, highway, 65 mph, 75 mph. Just gets 19 mpg. I did not expect such consistency. Maybe a value trait of the manual?

That would be 95% highway. We dont have much "City" in these parts
I drive about 98 miles a day back and forth to work. In total round trip, I may hit 10 redlights (counting them both directions.. to work and to home).
Its all straight highway, and I let the old PSD cruise at about 60-65.
