How do I by-pass my heater core?

My heater just started blowing steam/smoke out of the vents when I turn it on. I am guessing it is either a bad heater core or a leak. Even when the heat is off, theres still a slight amount of steam coming from the vents.
My question is, can I just plug the heater hoses under the hood until I get the time and money to fix it properly?

Thanks for all your helb
Bill

You can plug them off. You can also get a adaptor and hook both hoses together.

Find where the 2 hoses connect to the engine. Disconnect one hose from the engine and the other from the heater core. Take the second hose and connect it back to the engine where the first one came off. That's it.
