The stock antenna on my 95 F150 has terrible reception. In addition to not being able to hold a signal, it seems to pick up every bit of interference from things like wipers, etc. Is there an upgrade or some sort of shielding that will fix this? What can be done to improve signal lock?
Hey 95guy,is your radio original or replacement?Do you know if the antenna is also?Did the problem just start up? There are antenna boosters available, you can get them at NAPA,Hi-Lo,etc. The mounting base of the antenna should be corrosion free under the panel as this is the ground circuit also. I hope this helps some.

The Radio and antenna are OEM. I've only had the truck two weeks so I don't know how long it's bee going on. I do know there are boosters that add to the signa strength, but the other problem is the high level of interference. When I have the wipers on delay, every time they go on, there is electrical interference on the radio. This leads me to think the problem is something bigger than signal reception. My other car has no problem getting many of the stations I can't hold at all, so it is not a distance issue. I think it is reception and shielding. I'll check the grounding plate as you suggested. Thanks.
I just got a '95 F150. thing had terrible reception from the get-go. I would have problems picking up local stations. Turns out it was a problem with the factory stereo (replaced it with a Blaupunkt)
I had the same problem with my oem factory in my 93. I couldn't pick up didly squat with it, and I replaced the radio last summer with a Alpine, and have perfect reception. Even very low "static" during storms. Weird!
How the hell do you spell Blaughput? Anyway, they make the best radio head there are. They have great sq quality, and the if you listen to the radio they are for you. Digin-reciever or something like that. I can't spell any of this stuff, but that would be what you need.
