Hey guys I had a chance to put my truck on a chassis dyno on sunday and was not very pleased with the results. My truck is lifted 10" on 38"s it still has the stock gears and the only mod is a straight pipe. The truck dynoed 190 hp and 400 ft pounds the horse power just seems kinda weak to me. I thought these trucks made more power. I know to expect a 15-20% loss in power through the drive train but, it just seems like it lost way more than that. Oh ya sorry the truck is a 2000 EX 7.3
Those 38's are hard to turn so your torque numbers are probably hurt by that, the 190 at the wheels sounds right for a basically stock 2000 model year Ex. I believe the stock HP rating in 2000 was 205 if memory serves me. It seems right in the ballpark.
Thanks just wasn't sure what the rating from the factory was. I guess it's time for some upgrades. I just bought an 88 chrysler lebaron to use as a comuter so I should have no problem tearin into the truck. And since it gets 28 miles to the gallon I should be able to save a bunch of money on gas
You really don't need to do much "tearing into" to see some added power. Check out the 7point3 link and look for common mods and maintance for an idea of what's instore. Don't think twice about asking questions, I know that's how I learned what very little I know.
These guys and gals here won't steer you wrong. They haven't for me, wished i knew this along time ago. Good luck with your truck, looks great in your advatar.
