Hey guy's, Im back. just a little note to let you know whats going on with my truck. I bought a 30 ford coupe as a new project and its fun to work on but my truck is my baby and while Im doing body work on the coupe Im also trying to decide what to do about this motor I've got in my truck. I put this slug 302 in it just to see how it would handle and it seems to drive pretty well. The 302 was out of an 84-86 sedan in the 120 to 130 horse power range and Im ready to up grade with a little more horsepower. I was thinking about a 5.0 HO and there 's quite a few of them at the local yard but they have alot of miles on most of them so Im torn between rebuilding and buying a crate motor. any thoughts would be appreciated. Pops

It’s probably more a matter of your budget and amount of work you want to do. There is no substitute for power. And $ = power, and if you only want to do it one more time, go for the most you can afford with the least work. But what do I know!

If you rebuild an old engine you will get exactly what you want and you will know the quality of the parts and workmanship that goes into it. If you buy a crate, you may have to settle some here and there but the main thing is to make sure you deal with a reputable dealer that will stand behind their warranty.
