i purchased a pioneer deh-p2000 am/fm/cd indash, kenwood kac-ps200 2 chnl amp, sps-6936 3 way 100 watts peak 6x9, sps1326 2 way 70 watts peak 5 1/4, i want in stall into my 89 fullsize bronco, i will mount the 2 6x9's in the rear and the 2 5 1/4's in the doors, just like factory, i am looking to achieve a sharp crisp, clear high quality in studio type sound, with the two rear speakers hooked to the 200 watt amp, and the front speakers hooked up to the indash (45 watts x4), my question is will this setup provide this kind of sound, not lookin for the thump or to rattle the windows, just a quality sound system,
if the indash cant deliver this kind of power to the front speakers, would it be better to swap to a 4 chnl amp, if so would my front speakers have to be upgraded to handle say 100 watts since they are rated for 70 watts, is it possible to run the front and rear speakers off my 2 chnl amp, would quality suffer? does 200x2= 200 for each chnl or 100 for each chnl, also i need to conceal this amp, its 12 in by 12 in, by 3 in thick, i have some experince in installing stereos and speakers but this is my first amp, any info or suggestions would be greatly appreciated, thank you, don
A four chanel amp would be the best way to go. As far as to much power, you can use the gain setting on the amp to lower the power to the front speakers.
i installed the system into my bronco, less the amp, the pioneer had 45x4, it sounds really great, but the amp was just to much for my system, plus it wouldnt fit under the front bucket seat, i guesse i will forgo the amp idea altogether for now, i did have an idea though just in case i am able to find a 4 chnl amp at 100 watts per channel times four, i have the center console with 4 mounting bolts in the bottom, i was toying with the idea of unbolting the console and using spacers and longer mounting bolts, bringing the console straight up about 4 or 5 inches and sliding an amp underneath the console, with still enough room to keep it cool.
i am trying to keep all components out of sight, i kept the same factory look for the front speakers (mounted inside of door with stock grills), and kept the same mounting area behind the front buckets for the rear speakers, and the deck has the removable faceplate, and with the amp mounted under the console there just isnt a whole lot to look at. (stealth) thanks for your tip, and i hope this tip will help others looking for a place to mount a larger amp out of sight, thank you, don
Ok...my opion....not truth or fact...but what works for me. I think a sub is a good addtion to any system if you want to bump or not. You will hear a great increase in detail with the lows running. You dont need alot. Just a 100 wat mono amp to say a 8" to a 10". that would give you more of a studio sound. Also ever thought of componets up front? MAKES A BIG DIF! in my truck it did! i will never own another veichel with out componets not installed. The tweeters up high will widen your stereo image. you dont need high #'s to get good sound. Just quality stuff. If i can make any suggestion at all.....skip the cheep stuff and go quality. It will make all the difference in the world and it makes you smile more! Just my opinion.
