CCV mod cloud.
Hi guys,
I had my truck parked with the low sun one one side, and me on the other. with this lighting, I could see a thin whispy cloud of white smoke that was much larger than the truck in overall size. It was thin enough that I have not noticed it before, and would not have seen it without the lighting from the sun.
My CCV exits at the driver side at the rear axle. The odor is very pronounced when working around the rear of the truck, especially when hooking up trailers. I know the odor is to be excessive, but do you guys smell it all the time around the rear of the truck, and that strong?
Does this seem exessive to you guys? Thanks

If you're not burning a bunch of oil, and it takes just the right kind of light to see it, then I'd say. yes it's normal. If it's puffing like a steam engine, or you don't have anything at all coming out of it, then it's time to worry.

Cool, guys. Thanks! Just a little unnerving seeing that cloud, especially since the big CAT's and Cummins engines in the Kenworths I drive at work hardly leave a puff and I never smell it.

Guys, I have posted this before, I will not do the CCV mod. WHY? Keep your engine clean, and you don't have any smell or smoke coming out of your truck while running in the shop. This is the only mod that I question.

Rick, Im sure you know this, but the CCV is to keep the intake side clean of the oil.
The smell isn't that unpleasant to me. And It aint near the smoke that the sCummins in my fire truck makes.

I know Joe. I guess I will have to take my IC out and see how much oil I have in it. My truck is close to 8 years old, so that may tell the story.

You shouldn't have any pressure problems if you keep the hose short. Mine froze this winter, so I shortened it. It terminates at the firewall.

Mine ends under the cab on the driver's side... I'd like to put a filter on it just so that when I'm loading my girls in the truck I'm not getting that stuff blowing all around me and into the truck. When I drop my tank I need to re-route it too.
