6.9 performance

I was talking to my uncle tonight (retired mechanic) about his son's 85 w/a 6.9. He's been doing some performance mods to the truck while his son is out on the road. Asked me to look on the net for a twin turbo intake and larger inj pump. Anyone know where they could be found? Thanks!

Nobody makes a twin turbo kit or any intake stuff that I've heard of but asts, hypermax and banks do make single turbo kits for the 6.9, but I've heard that the banks system is discontinued...from what I've been ablt to gather the ats system is the better turbo, it's a wastegated turbo that has the ability to put some good boost to the engine, but be careful you can over boost an idi engine really easy and bad things can happen. All of these can be found on the net...gust google either of them and you'll find it, or maybe somone can post a link. ( don't know how to do that yet)

as for bigger ip the only place I know of is dps...you can find them on the net and they can rebuild a pump for pretty-well Any application... they also have a bunch of other stuf you'll probably like...propane injection...and head stud kits ( youll need those for big boost)

good luck

A stock 6.9 will handle less that 15 PSI boost.
So a twin turbo setup would be a waste of money without interior engine mods.

The 22.5 to 1 compression ratio is what causes the problems with more boost.

Thanks for the replies, Did a quick look last night but eyes were getting fuzzy, gonna do some more searching today.
I'm not sure what all has been done the internals, I know he's done some engine work while the truck was apart. Head studs were gonna be my first question as soon as he mentioned a turbo but didn't have a chance to ask.

go over to oilburners.net and look up a guy named agnem. He sells Moose Pumps. They are a modified DB2 that will give you as much fuel as you want.

Where is W PA?

Pa is about 50 miles up I 79 from me.

Diesel Performance Specialists, Inc. - The Diesel Performance Specialists has a lot of hot rod parts.
Summit Racing has a good price on 6.9 head studs.
