2 Layers in inline fuel filter wtf?
My 78 has sat for about one month it has sat longer than that before without the gas going bad, but it wont stay running now and the fuel in the inline fuel filter is in 2 'layers'. The top layer is clear and the bottom layer is milky looking. Is this bad gas? I just replaced the filter today it will stay running if i keep feathering the gas but if i let go it idles down and dies. any ideas?
I disconnected the fuel line that goes from the pump to filter to carb, I unhooked it from the carb and cranked the engine and pumped some gas into a container it definitely has 2 distinct layers. Is there a way to pump the fuel out without cranking the starter?
Gas doesn't usually go bad that quickly, sounds like you may have said somethhing wrong to the wrong person maybe. Might want to invest in a locking gas cap.
Anywho, autozone sells a universal electric fuel pump for about 20 dollars, you could just temporarily hook it to the line from the fuel tank, with a filter in front of it, and let it pump your tank dry. Alot easier than siphoning, ans safer.
My two cents.
