well, we are finally looking for another dog.....and we decided on a boxer.
went to look at some pups today and the two we narrowed it down to were a 5 week old female or a 6 week old male. the "breeder" was willing to allow us to take either one tonight....but I think it's too early. the more i read, the more i see that the pups should stay with the mom and siblings until 8-10 weeks to learn socialization skills.
thoughts?
anyone know of reputable breeders in NY or the surrounding states????
thanks!
unless youre set on a puppy i got mine at North Shore Animal League which is a shelter and she was only ten weeks old when i got her.. they do spay or neuter the dogs tho males cannot be done for a while later than the females but im very happy with mine
10 weeks to me is a puppy still, they say it's best if the pups are 10 weeks before you take them home....we've looked at all the rescues and haven't found anything "young" enough. thanks for the reply
well, we got one....kept the name the breeder gave him, Otis...and expanded it for his AKC, Otis Sigwalt Albrecht
here are some pics....he's great. turns 7 weeks tomorrow (July 7th)...bit young to take home. this is my first time crate training, he's not a happy camper being so young and not having anyone. my wife will be coming home on lunch for at least a few weeks...but they say they need to be walked at noon for a few months!!!
