I have been thinking about a name for my truck and was thinking how others came up with thier name for their beloved truck. Maybe some others can share their story and help with mine. Thanks!
During the 5 years that I looked at my truck while it was undergoing a frame up build, I would tell it that "Someday" it would be something again. So the name "Someday" stuck. Problem is, it is still in that same mode, needs paint and interior yet. But I am driving it as is!
The F-2, my dad called it Betsy when he drove but my kids renamed it when they were little to "Ooga truck" because I have an ooga horn on it.
The panel is called "Hixton" because that's the name of the town where I bought my original truck and the name kind of tranferred over to the current truck because we switched parts from one truck to the next.
The F-4 is named "Roger" because one day I was trying to convince my wife the truck was worth keeping and as we were "discussing it" we both, at the same time, looked at he hood and saw a real faint "Roger" painted in the front of the hood.
i had alot of parts missing and was usually making something when someone was around they would say where did you find this part or where did you get this , usually i would say it's homade, thus Homade was born and i've never looked back, afraid something might be falling off.

Hey!!!! I was wondering where my F-4 went!!! Bring it back!!!
My truck already has a name....spoken like Sean Connery - "F-2.....FORD F-2..."
I have 3 trucks, the 51, the 55, and a 2002 Ranger. I'm not going to tell you what I call the Ranger, but if if if I ever buy new again it's not going to be a choice Loyal to the Henry Club.
The 55 is back in Missouri and doesn't have a name. When dad had the 51, the 55 was "MY Truck" (I'm such a girl)
But now I have the Ranger and the 51 in San Diego. So when I want to distinguish between the two, the 51 is called "The Big Truck" and the Ranger "The Little Ford"
And that's odd because despite the different in the massive looks of the F1 as opposed to the Ranger, that little Ranger is actually longer and wider than the F1. Wider by a few inches, but longer by at least a foot!
At the moment, It's been about two weeks since I was at my place in St Charles Missouri, which is about 1/2 mile north of the Missouri - about 1/4 mile southwest of the St. 94/I70 junction. I'm hoping my 55s new name isn't "Nautilus!"
my first 48 was a pile of parts and a bare frame.....RandyJack called it a skeletor, so I called it that, though it may end up a parts truck. The other truck, which is the one I'm putting together is the Green Manalishi, because, well....it's green. Green Manalishi can be defined here, and may explain the method to my madness, lol. Oh, and I was born in 1970.
Have you ever asked what "Suppliments" were put in your food as a Baby?
Side Note: My Daughter was born in 73, I used to make her change colors by feeding her all green baby food for a week, then all yellow for a week. From what I understand I am the only one who understands the Humor in this.

I've never meet a Roger i did not like!
The truck has been a long proceess now and many trucks have been donated to its cause. This whole truck started out many yaers ago when my uncle stored his truck in one of my fathers garage. (We used to build trailers) When we closed down shop he moved the truck and i told him i wanted to buy it. Well time went and i asked over and over and all he would say was ok but nothing ever happen. One day i go with money in hand and he tells me he sold it to someone else. He told me i would have not paid him what the other guy paid. Well time goes buy and im was looking for a truck and travel out of state looking. NOthing there so i travel back home and on my way my cell rings, some guy askes me if im looking for a truck. I say how did you get my number? (A friend of a friends uncle, brother told him etc) Well i ask my buddy thats with me if we can drive to this truck thats on the other end of the state and look at that. Cool so we are on the way. I strike a deal and ask the the haul it back with his trailer he had on site. He ask what town and say this truck came from there. This happens to be parts from my uncles truck. All i bought was the cab that i used and a complete stock frame rolling, set of doors. Nothing im using is the original truck from him but its a good story.
Mine comes from my music interest. I am a big Buddy Holly fan, so I named mine Peggy Sue, only in KY we only have 6 characters for our plates and I wanted a personalized plate. So PEGYSU is her name My '89 F150 leaks every I park it so my daughter named it "Puddles", and my '61 Unibody I bought from a friend named Paul and then decided to name him Paul.
