The engine code is the 4th digit of the VIN: J = 240 (J: 1965 only) / B = 300 / D = 352
No F Series truck ever had a 289 engine factory installed.
-------------------------------------------------------
1965 Ranchero's offered two engines: 200 I-6 or the 289 V8.
Three 289's were offered: 2V / 4V / HiPo
The engine code is the 5th digit of the VIN.
T = 200 1V / C = 289 2V / A = 289 4V / K = 289 HiPo.
It shouldn't, since the on/off concept is the same. IF you are using a non-resistor style wire that can cause some issues, mostly due to feedback, and you might get issues if your condenser is bad.
I know you say it isn't working, but what exactly is it doing? And you do have it hooked to the same terminal on the coil the distributor/points wire is hooked to, right?
k know i went threw all the wiring and it was good and it still didnt work.just for fun i turned the *** on the back thats for the 8 6 4 motors to 6 and it started to work.and from what i could tell it was reading right.hows that work?iv got a v8 in it
