This has the potential to be one of the biggest screw-jobs in Canadian history. Unfortunately, its all about jealousy of the success of the west and pandering to the Liberal's many special interest supporters. They don't have a clue about the economy or the environment. Ontario, which has squandered 100 years of economic wealth and power to become a have-not province, cannot stand to see the wealth of the west. As someone already mentioned, don't be surprised if Ontario and Quebec gang up on the rest of Canada (like they usually do) and put that doofus Dion in the PM's office. And don't be surprised if they absolutely decimate the Western Canadian economy within two years of being in office. But have no fear, while the west is destroyed, a lot of Liberal supporters will get very, very rich.

After living in Ontario for 20 years, I have no idea why the west doesn't pull the plug on Confederation and leave. There is no respect for the west in eastern Canada. BC, AB, SK, MB and the territories could form one of the wealthiest nations in the world, and leave behind all of the political garbage of Ontario and Quebec. I'd be the first one to move back west as soon as that happened.

A recent poll on CTV here showed 73% of respondents against the Dion plan. Now figure in the plans to legislate pre-95 vehicles off the road......

The amount of revenue generated from just the last two land sales, for oil exploration rights, have been record setting. The number of dollars our province has received from the oil companies is huge. You know eastern Canada would love to get some of it too.

These plans only hurt the lower income people and help the wealthy get more.
Voltson Wow an Ontarion on our side. kudos to you.
Yes that is true if we were to separate from the East we wouldbecome one of the wealthiest nations of the world.
The elction is one of the things that frustrate us out west. Who gets in is always decided by the east well before the polls are counted out west. I do not know why they cannot see how they have burnt westerners. If they could and work to help us then maybe they would get voted in moreout here.
Right now all party's have their own adjendaes to make profit for teir own pockets. I do not see one helping the lower income people.
And taxing everything to recycled is stupid. Everytime they ad another tax on stuff to be recycled. It just gets tossed in feilds and our ditches out my way. So they do not have to pay another tax to recycle. People would be glad to recycle, but are tired of paying for everything when they try to help the enviroment.
That is why I do late night drop off of tires at tires shops. I refuse to pay them another $3.00 a tire to be recycled. Then they still get paid from the tire recyclers for each tire they have. So the gov. gets some and the tires shops get some and that is just returning tires for recycleing, not counting the fees when you buy them ne also. So it becomes a big grab.
That is why I see so many tires thrown in the ditches. Along with old couches and fridges and so on. They now charge a tax for all these items when you ring to the land fills which goes to a recycle pile anyways.
That is why a lot of the acreage owners and farmers are now just piling or buring all this stuff on their land now.

We have actually gone the other way on our farm with some stuff. We have de-commissioned our own garbage dump and pay a bit of a fee to have a dumpster in our yard. We still do some burning of theing like wood and paper products.

Now that`s real exciting news for BC residents......Nothing like a kick in the head when you down on your knees!
It should be interesting when the next election comes up.

Hope your riot helps, we need something like that to happen.
I can see paying recycle fees but there`s usually enviromental fees like on all welding supplies. Money going up in smoke in more ways than one there!

none of these environmental fees would bother me if the environment actually got it. the problem is that there's certain people getting rich off the many stupid people in the world. computer programs in garages automatically put an environmental levy on anything done. when i went to get the exhaust done on my '83, i noticed a levy there. i told them to get it out of there. there was nothing taken off the truck to be disposed of, so there's no need of a levy!!

ontario(gov't) and quebec...(gov't and many citizens) have some mental issues to deal with. i agree with Voltson's statement about the west seperating but i'd have to see the maritimes get some benifet as well... being a newfie, i know full well how being screwed by the liberals feels!!

Yeah lots of places are now trying to ad that on their bills when there really is no tax. These are not usually a reoutable place. They are using it as an escuse to charge more and pocket it. Places like that need to have revenue Canada come and audit and catch them with all this extra money they made dishonestly. These guy will be doing different books.
The green tax or emission tax really goes to nothing but the government coffers. There is no hugh machine sucking all the dirty air and filtering it clean that this money goes to. It is just an excuse to grab more money from everyone. These enviromentalist say it will make everyone drive less. Boy do they live in pipe smoke.
If they quit taxing everything that can be recycled to help the enviroment, then more people will help. The education is there, but too many businesses are now using enviromenatl taxes asa way to add to there profit margins and they have the Govrn> doing it for them to make it legal. Sadly a lot of politicains own these or have shares in these busineses. So they are all making money and being in their positions passing laws to make it legal so they don't get slapped for it.

I personally like the idea of creating inter-provincial tarrifs if this new green shift happens. so any oil, grain, or minerals heading east to Ontario so th "smarter" people of Canada can pay out of their pocketbook. That would be the only way to legally re-coup the poteintial money lost.

perhaps with all the uranium that sask has, we could build a nice little nuclear suppository for each gov't member... a bigger one for those on the "green" bandwagon.
