Was driving down road and truck died. Left overnight and next morning truck turned over and died a block away. Thought it was crankshaft sensor and replaced that, but still doesn't work.
Motor turns but will not fire bought diagnostic computer hooked up and shows car passes no codes found.Truck will however start with a rag flashed with gas stuck in the breather. The minute rag removed truck dies.

Please Help!
Fuel filters
HPOP
Other stuff related to fuel delivery that produces no codes
Is the diagnostic tool that you bought CAN-BUS compatible? If not, it'll read only the most basic of OBDII codes...
Discontinue the fuel flashing or it'll get really ugly fast.
Mine did the same thing before, I changed the filters and it runs good again, it did this to me 3 times before, I changed the filter brand from NAPA to Motorcraft and no problems for a while now.

when mine did that it was a bad lift pump. It was covered under the 5/100k diesel waranty. If you do have pump problems be carefull, the injectors use fuel to cool and lube them, starving then will wipe out the injectors!
So, if a sensor went out, I assume I would show a code with the obd hooked up? I was given new IPC sensor, Cam shaft sensor and Crank but only replaced the crankshaft sensor. (have a friend that owns a diesel parts store) I could replace sensors until my hands fall off but feel there has got to be a better way. I know it is a fuel problem and have yet to change my fuel filter. I have inspected them and while they appear fine and I can blow air through them, I guess they could be clogged enough that the pump has a problem passing fuel through them. Is the Fuel pump not a high pressure pump? If it was a filter problem, I would be shocked but then again, you guys make these trucks sound sensitive. If the fuel filters are bad, I take it that the truck will not start at all? I am getting fuel to the filter on the top of the motor or intake but not to the injectors. Anyone have any other ideas before I replace filters and then head to inspecting or replacing the HPOP. If filters dont solve the problem, is HPOP my next place to look?
One more question, Is there a sensor or something that will keep the truck from starting without the fuel filter. Wondering if you can check the problem by removing, similar to that of a gas powered car? Thanks
I have a lost 15 lbs of pressure, 60 down to 45 in less than a week on a fuel filter (primary) that looked clean until I cut it open. The pleats around the inside of the filter were black.I think you have a hp oil problem instead of a fuel filter / pump problem. What year is your rig and how many miles?
Truck is a 2003 and have 100k on it. Just took out filters again to reinspect and they are black! Last time I checked, they looked good. Could be filters. I hope its not HPOP. Will be replacing filters regardless.
I hope for you its the filters.I had a problem with a couple of rubber o rings on the hp pump that caused a warm stall and no start until cooled down.It started as a loss of power, progressed to a stall and long restart then a stall no restart. This only took about a week from the time of loss of power to no restart. The day I fixed it the truck would run for less than 5 minutes and stall,an hour or so later it would have a long crank start and die in 5 minutes. The milage was about same as yours so if the filters don't help you have an idea where to go next.
