85 f150 standard cab stereo setup/ help/suggestions

I am going through a redesign of my truck and i want to upgrade the stereo something moderate with some quality sound. I am looking for input on the best way to install sub's without taking up a whole lot of room. The second is how to install seperate tweeters or should i buy door speakers with tweeters? thanks for any advice.

Hello
The best advice I can give you on subs is spend more for less. What I mean is the better quality sub you can afford ,the smaller your box volume will be , so the less space the box will take up. Also , when you buy a head unit spend as much as you can afford because if you start with a good signal it will sound good all the way through , If you start with a poor signal and try to clean it up it will sound like crap anyway. For mids and tweets , It's up to you .If you want everything hidden use coax , If you want a little more to show use seperates . Just remember ,If you use seperates ,the mids and tweets should still be fairly close together or your imaging will be off.

hey it all depends on what you want, and how far you want to go with sub woffers. As for door speakers, and tweeters I would go with both.the door speakers don,t use high pass filters use them on the tweeters.this will give you afull-range sound.Your tweeters mount them on the panals by your sun visors. This is the popular ,and most prefered place to mount them.when you decide on your subs let me know, and we'll take it from there Brandon

I would spend the majority of my time and money on getting a good quality head deck, and a nice set of componet speakers, like MB Quart, or maybe infinity. Most often people get to wrapped up in putting subs in vehicle, and that's all you can hear. I guess it all depends on how you want you truck to sound. I think in a regular cab you could get a way with 2 8" subs behind the seat. You would still have good bass, but not so much that your drown everything out, plus you would use very little room, and it would be cheaper in the long run. Just some of my opinions.

Good Luck

Murph

Forget the 8" my brother has an 84 reg cab,And we dropped 4 solo baric 12" behind the seat w/kicker DX700 pushing them.it sounds great at low & high volumes. We put 2 6 1/2 pioneer in the door& a piar of power acustic 3/4 tweeters by the sunvisior.it cost roughly 2000 over a 1 year period.the truck was painted a med. royal blue fade to a pearl white.so we named it "Blue Thunder".so take your time putting your sys.together so everyting comes out the way you want.
